Fire Departments Counseling

PSPG provides general mental health counseling for firefighters and their immediate family
members.

PSPG clinicians are trained to be sensitive to the specific needs of the field, recognizing and understanding issues like PTSD, depression, substance abuse, domestic violence, suicide prevention, work-home balance, and repeated exposure to trauma. Staff are versed in individual, couples, and family counseling and treat adults as well as children and adolescents. Most counselors use a short-term cognitive-behavioral based model, but can use more specific therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma, or use substance abuse interventions like Motivational Interviewing or Relapse Prevention to treat substance abuse issues. The goal of counseling at PSPG is to completely address present issues to prevent them from becoming barriers in both family and work life.
