Emergency/911 Operators Counseling

PSPG provides counseling to members of the dispatch team for both law enforcement and fire agencies.

PSPG counselors have training in issues such as repeated exposure to traumatic events, PTSD, substance abuse, depression, and relationship issues. Counselors are trained to be aware of the specific needs and stressors of the field, which can differ from those of the general public. PSPG clinicians have experience providing individual, couples, and family therapy to adults, adolescents, and children. Counseling at PSPG is most often done using a short-term cognitive-behavioral approach, but if needed, can also include specific therapies for trauma including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and approaches for substance abuse such as Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Prevention. For PSPG, the goal of counseling is to fully address issues in the present to prevent larger issues for cropping up in the future.
